Sandy Alcantara struck out a career-high 12 batters while rookie Jesus Sanchez hit a three-run homer as the Miami Marlins earned a 6-1 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.
Alcantara (8-12) allowed one run on six hits with one walk over seven innings. He struck out 11 batters in his previous outing, also against the Reds.
Sanchez's fifth home run of the season was a 443-foot blast, while Jorge Alfaro went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Miami banged out 12 hits. Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. had his first-career three-hit game.
Cincinnati's Tyler Naquin had an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, the longest active hit streak in the major leagues.
Reds starter Vladimir Gutierrez (9-5) took the loss while allowing five runs on seven hits over three innings. He earned the victory in a 3-1 win over the Marlins in his previous outing.
Gutierrez faced 10 batters in a 35-pitch opening inning, allowing Alfaro's two-run, opposite-field single and Sanchez's three-run blast to right.
Cincinnati got on the board in the third. Max Schrock singled, advanced on Gutierrez's sacrifice bunt and went to third on Jonathan India's single before scoring on Naquin's double that one-hopped the wall in left-center.
The Reds failed to add on in the third. Castellanos followed Naquin by striking out before the Reds loaded the bases on a walk to Joey Votto. But Asdrubal Cabrera also went down on strikes to strand all three runners in his first at-bat as a member of the Reds.
Miami made it 6-1 in the sixth on doubles by Chisholm and Alfaro, with the latter getting the RBI to close the scoring.
Reds third baseman Mike Moustakas left the game after the top of the second inning due to right-hip tightness and was replaced by Cabrera.
